Feasting on Roasted Pig in Hong Kong
By Terry Wiley, CEO, Asia PacificIn Chinese culture, the pig is quite a symbolic character. It represents a host of traits like intelligence, honesty, tolerance, initiative and diligence, as well as strength and vitality. Roasted pig is often served at ceremonial occasions to bring good luck.
We had our own roasted pig recently at the opening ceremony for our new office in Hong Kong. Our move into larger office space was necessary, as our business has grown rapidly in the region. Our existing clients are ramping up projects and we are encountering many new opportunities as the Chinese economy continues its acceleration.
We are delighted that Paul Wong, a seasoned business development professional, has joined us as SVP, Business Development, to spearhead our commercial efforts across APAC. Most recently General Manager at Jump Web Services Ltd., Paul has more than 15 years of experience in strategic business development in Asia. He’ll be based in Hong Kong, along with Sej Patel, VP Business Development, who has enjoyed a successful tenure at Lightspeed Research. Sej will be relocating from our Sydney office.
With Paul and Sej supported by a team of 20 experienced and talented market research professionals, a number we expect to grow to 30 by the end of this year, we are in excellent position not only to deepen and strengthen our existing client relationships, but also to make the most of the new challenges that develop.
As we take our place in Hong Kong, we will aim for our business to embody the pig’s traditional qualities of integrity and determination — not to mention its good taste!
